Winter Fun Awaits at the Festival of Lights
![]() |
Every winter, Canada is home to the Festival of Lights at Niagara Falls, a stunning natural wonder located close to Ontario. People from all over come to enjoy the incredible illumination, which spans approximately five kilometers down Niagara Parkway. If you're going to be visiting the festival this winter, you can expect to see more than two million lights and 100 different types of displays. Although the Falls themselves are tourists attractions all year round, the gorgeous lit decorations turn the area into the Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland!
Some of the most beloved displays are the Enchantment of Disney displays, which turn favorite stories and characters into incredible illuminations. You'll get to see Disney favorites through the years -- Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and so many more. While many people drive through to see the lights, some of the displays such as Twas the Night Before Christmas are meant to be experienced while out of your vehicle. This particular display is located in front of Victoria Place and is a true holiday classic!
And that's not all -- you'll see much more than just Disney and Christmas lights. There's a Canadian and American flag display, gorgeous floral displays, and even wildlife displays -- including a world-renowned Noah's Ark display. During the duration of the festival, the lights come on at 5 pm. It is free of charge to drive through and see the displays, although donations are encouraged. Any donations received go towards the improvement and advancement of the gorgeous and entertaining lights.
The Festival of Lights is a popular annual occurrence, so if you're planning to visit you should book your hotel as far in advance as possible. The best place to stay during the festival? Right in Niagara Falls, Canada of course! There are lots of fun things in this town to do when you're not marveling at the lights. Live entertainment, moonlight tours, amazing fireworks displays and even an indoor waterpark are just a few ways to pass the time while visiting Niagara Falls during at festival time. Not to mention the spectacular Falls themselves, which many people enjoy up close with a boat tour on the Maid of the Mist. There's truly something for all ages to enjoy in this spectacular tourists' haven!
